It’s About People

When did houses and neighborhoods become more about cars than about people?

We’re not sure, but at Josephine Crossing we’re taking our homes and streets away from cars and giving them back to people…

A garage on the front of the house welcomes the cars home…

A front porch welcomes your family home…

We’re putting “neighbor” back in neighborhood. Front porches, sidewalks and parks encourage living in community with the people around you.

We’re putting “walk” back in sidewalks. With streets designed intentionally to slow and minimize traffic, you can actually stroll along a sidewalk without having the G forces from passing traffic suck the flesh off your face.

We’re putting “play” back in playgrounds. Remember when you were a kid and you could play for hours at the city park without your mom hovering over you?  Wouldn’t you love it if your child could have those same childhood memories?

We’re putting the “fun” back in fundamentals. We’re not splitting the atom here.  We do wonder at times if in our quest for “bigger, better, more, now” perhaps we lost sight of the basics.   A return to the basics is well, pretty basic.  Build quality, sustainable homes that reflect personality and lifestyle.  Build a home one at a time; build a neighborhood one person, couple and family at a time.  Not a terribly complicated formula, right?

We’re putting “environment” back in environmental. We all want to be better stewards of the environment, but how do we make an appreciable difference?  Well, we could be like celebrities who yip about the environment, drive a hybrid, appear on the cover of Vanity Fair telling us how to live a greener life, all the while wasting enough energy and drinking enough bottled water on the set of their latest movie to fuel and water a 3rd world country.  But we digress…Here’s how we do it in Josephine Crossing:  We build sustainable, Energy Star certified homes.  We recycle on our construction site, and offer homeowners curb side recycling.  We drive Mini-Coopers.  We have the only wall plant in Montana where we pre-fabricate our walls in a controlled environment to drastically reduce waste.  It’s not like we consider ourselves heroes, but why isn’t Vanity Fair calling us?

We’re putting ur-day back in Saturday. Okay, we got a little carried away with this one, but we’ve got a point to make.  Raise your hand if you’re tired of waiting for Friday night and all the leisure and rest it seemingly represents only to be reminded that the drain under the kitchen sink needs to fixed (you think it’ll take an hour, but it will take 6), the ½ acre yard needs to be mowed (4 hours), and you’ve got to take down that odious wallpaper that even the 3 year old has started to make fun of (better keep your next 2 Saturdays open).  Hmmm.  What if you just moved in and lived?  What if you spent that 4 hours playing with your 3 year old in one of the pocket parks?  Just something to think about…
